Participants
The Berlin Group brings together the providers of standards: banks, central banks, banking associations, payment associations, payment schemes and interbank processors active in SEPA. It is governed by a Plenary, its decision-making body, supported by several Taskforces that report to the Plenary.
To better involve and reflect broader market interests and address the requirements of the market demand side (the users of standards), the Berlin Group may establish support for a specific Taskforce with a dedicated Advisory Group.
The composition of a Taskforce and Advisory Group is balanced across stakeholders to ensure fair, balanced market representation without exclusive dominance or guidance in standards development, and to support sound decision-making through broad consensus, equity, and fairness among participants. There are no participation fees. The only expectation is active, best-effort engagement, which allows participants to influence both process and outcomes and to receive first-hand information. Participants have the opportunity to liaise, interact, and engage in two-way dialogue on strategic, business, and technical topics related to the use and evolution of Berlin Group standards, ensuring visibility of activities and future specification development from inception. Participants are engaged on a voluntary basis. Because transparency to the market is a key guiding principle for an open standardisation initiative such as the Berlin Group, this website publishes the names and logos of participating organisations, along with the legal residence country of their principal office.
